Sembikiya was established in 1834 is Japan's oldest fruit shop and fruit parlor. All the fruits are so perfect in shape without any blemishes that the display looks like a jewelry shop. What it is like to taste jewel pieces? To satisfy your curiosity, you have a cafe on the 1st floor and a restaurant on the 2nd floor. You can access Sembikiya directly from Mitsukoshimae station (on the Tokyo Metro).

3. Kajitsuen(果実園 東京店)

Cakes, tarts and parfaits...everything you have here is filled with fruits, lots of them. Breakfast with fresh fruit juice are a good start to the day, or just treat yourself with fruit-based sweets. Located in the Kitchen Street on the 1st floor inside Tokyo station but outside the ticket gate. Opens from 7:30 AM to 10:00 PM.

4. Furit Parlor Fukunaga(フルーツパーラー フクナガ)

If you prefer moderately sized dessert, this might be a right place. Run by a fruit shop with a history of over 40 years, fruit only in the best condition are served here. As a result, the menu changes seasonally or daily sometimes. 3 minutes walk from Yotsuya-San-chome (Marunouchi line, Tokyo Metro). Closed on Sunday.

5. Fruit Parlor GOTO (フルーツパーラーゴトー)

Near Hanayashiki Amusement Park, this old fruit parlor is another must-go place for fruit lovers. Recommendations are the parfait and kakigori in summer. To offer fruit in its best condition at reasonable prices, the menu changes often, almost daily. 9 minutes walk from Asakusa (Ginza line & Tobu Isezaki line). Closed on Wednesday.

6. Hotcake Parlor Fru-Full(ホットケーキパーラー Fru-Full)

A staff member who worked at an old fruit shop opened this parlor after its closure. Though its specialty is pancakes as the name shows, the fruits are good, too. 7. Imano Fruits Factory(イマノフルーツファクトリー)

Opened in 1952 as a fruit shop and parlor, they provide top-end fresh fruit and sweet delicacies alike. Cakes, tarts, jelly, juice or smoothies… all look ordinary but they are not. The real goodies don't need decoration. Kayabacho (Subway) exit 7. Closed on Sundays and Public holidays.

8. Fruit du Saison(フルーフ・デゥ・セゾン)

There used to be a Kanda grocery market around Akihabara, and Fruit du Saison was a fruit shop there. Besides big fruit parfaits, mini parfaits are also packed with fresh fruits from Ota market. 7 minute walk from Suehirocho (Ginza line); 7 minute walk from Akihabara (JR). 9. Le Fruitier by Hotel de Suzuki(ル・フルティエ オテル・ドゥ・スズキ)

Hotel de Suzuki, a patisserie in Seijo, renewed its store as Le Fruitier. Alongside delicious cakes, parfaits with seasonal fruits are their specialty. Good choice to experience the refinement made by the patissier and the fruits selected by strict standards. 3 minute walk from Seijo-Gakuenmae (Odakyu line). No regular holidays.

10. Frutas(フルータス)

This small shop near Tomioka Hachimangu is another good specimen of a fruit parlor. Fruits in their prime season are simply satisfying. Parfait without too much cream nor arrangement are cheering. Fruit juice freshly made just after the order is refreshing. 3 minute walk from Monzennakamachi (Tozai line); 5 minutes from Monzennakamachi (Oedo line). Closed on Wednesday.

11. Berry Parlor(ベリーパーラー)

‘Haute couture parfait’, as the store calls it. The parfait served here is really beautiful. Finely prepared materials are arranged in the shape of a bouquet. What an elegant sweet break! A tip for you: the parfait comes with rather sugary fillings and sweet sauces. 7F Seibu department store in Ikebukuro, direct access from Ikebukuro station.

The rather nostalgic place looks far from luxurious. Price range is very reasonable. Why is this place on the list? The reason is that this place offers desserts with high quality fruit. 13. CAFÉ Nora(のら)

The name Nora (noraneko) means alley cats in Japanese. The place is relaxing even for alley cats, is the owner’s wish. And it is. Simple recipes without fatty decoration set the flavor of fruit apart. On the left side of the north exit, Shiinamachi (Seibu Ikebukuro line). Closed on Monday.

14. Ichiman(いちまん)

Ichiman is run by a farmer from Kazo, Saitama. Not to mention the strawberries and mangos produced by the owner, other fruits are directly sent from other farmers all over the country in their prime season. 15. Shibuya Nishimura Fruit Parlor(渋谷西村 道玄坂パーラー)

The café is on the 2nd floor of the fruit shop, near Shibuya crossing. If you are lucky to get a seat on the window side, the nice view of the town is there for you.
