Enter a Romantic World of Light at the 2019 Ibaraki Flower Park Illuminations
Ibaraki Flower Park will be decorated in stunning illuminations for the fifth year in a row this winter, from November 15th, 2019 to January 13th, 2020. This year's display is bigger and better than ever, with around a million lights illuminating the gardens. With a range of atmospheric displays and many gorgeous photo spots, a visit to these gardens will make for a romantic date or a fun Christmas outing with kids. Ibaraki Flower Park Illuminations
The Ibaraki Flower Park illumination display is divided into a number of different areas, the main two being the Carnival Area and the Venus Area. This year, the park has also added extra photo spots, which are sure to be a hit with families and Instagram lovers.
This year has a romantic theme, with illuminated bouquet sculptures and heart-shaped photo spots, so Ibaraki Flower Park makes the perfect spot for a Christmas date, too!
Carnival Area
A show held every 20 minutes at the Carpet of Light, pictured above, fills the gardens with music and light. With winter roses and illuminated gazebos and arches to enjoy, a walk through this area draws you into a world of light.
Pictured above is the Fortune of Light. Ringing the Bell of Happiness here has a special effect: you'll have to try it yourself to see!
Venus Area
The Venus area will be decorated with a mix of sound and light shows. The Glittering Bouquet Garden, centered around a large blue arch, features illuminated flower bouquets, a heart-shaped photo spot, and other items you can pose with to create some fun pictures with your loved ones.
The Light Patio has a mysterious atmosphere with exotic music interwoven with displays of lights.
The Winter Milky Way is a 100 meter-long tunnel of light. A photo spot with a flower sculpture is also found in this area.
With a glowing angel sculpture surrounded by illuminated wisteria trees, the glittering waters of the Venus Pond has a magical, festive atmosphere.
Wish Area
The Wish Area features the Promise Hill which is covered in a blanket of light. Every 20 minutes a special show with original music will be held, so make sure you don't miss seeing it!
The music for the Carpet of Light and Promise Hill were created for the event by Shiyu Yanagida, a composer who has worked on movies, TV, and anime, and today specializes in sound design for public works like illuminations and projection mapping displays.
About Ibaraki Flower Park
The vast gardens at the Ibaraki Flower Park hold a range of different flower displays throughout the year, including rose, hydrangea, and sunflower festivals. If you're coming during the illumination period, you may also be able to catch winter roses and dahlias in mid-November and begonia and greenhouse dahlia displays during early January.
