1. Oujyou (Ueno)

Oujyou is a coffee shop that is located right next to Ameyoko and is surrounded by lots of small bars. This coffee shop has been in business for a long time in this area. One of the charms of this cafe is its interior, with the comfortable chairs and the beautiful chandelier.

The food menu includes pilaf, spaghetti, various kinds of sandwiches, hot dogs, and toast. Butter toast (450 yen), a popular menu item made with very thick bread and a pat of salty butter, goes perfectly with coffee.

2. Irori-an (Within Ueno Station Gates)

At Irori-an, a soba (buckwheat noodle) restaurant located inside the central gate of Ueno Station, visitors can eat delicious soba noodles for breakfast. It's a very convenient location for those sightseeing in Ueno to grab some food before starting their day.

Kitsune soba is a dish consisting of hot soba with fried tofu and a half-boiled egg on top. The noodles are thin, so they're easy to eat. Set meals, such as the soba set meal and the salmon set meal, are also available in the morning. Rice and hiya-yakko (cold tofu) come with the sets, making for a very satisfying meal!

3. Taimeiken Ecute Ueno Branch (Within Ueno Station Gates)

Taimeiken is a long-established and well-known Western-style restaurant in Japan. The restaurant has two floors, but the first floor of the restaurant, where you can enjoy Western food at reasonable prices, will be the main focus in this article. On the first floor, there's a selection of many dishes that Japanese people have been familiar with since long ago, such as omurice (omelette stuffed with rice), omelette, Japanese curry rice, and hamburg steak. Popular breakfast items are omelette and borscht soup with stone baked bread, both available at reasonable prices. The popular breakfast set is a great deal with a considerably cheap price that consists of an omelette, borscht soup, and stone-baked bread.

4. Tsukiji Uogashi Maguro Ichidai Ecute Ueno Branch (Within Ueno Station Gates)

Tsukiji Uogashi Maguro Ichidai is a sushi restaurant located within the building of Ueno Station. Customers can enjoy tasty sushi at reasonable prices, and it has an atmosphere that makes it easy to enter! As tuna ("maguro" in Japanese) is featured in the restaurant name, you can expect the tuna here to be very delicious. Try and compare the different types of tuna, such as medium fatty tuna, lean tuna, and marinated tuna!

Customers can order from the set menu for a limited time in the morning until 10 AM. For example, there's the "Tuna Yamakake Set" (tuna and grated Japanese yam rice bowl) and the "Grilled Fish Set", both of which come with rice and miso soup for the amazing price tag of less than 500 yen.

A delicious breakfast menu is also available at the Hard Rock Cafe in Ueno. The American breakfast, which you can order until 11 AM, is a set meal consisting of hash browns, bacon, scrambled eggs, toast, and salad. The lightly salted bacon and fluffy eggs are very delicious, and the presentation itself will make your mouth water!

6. Cafe Lapin (Okachimachi)

Cafe Lapin is an elegant and cozy coffee shop that is located in a quiet side street close to Ueno-hirokoji Station and Okachimachi Station. There is a large coffee bean roaster inside the cafe, which has a completely different atmosphere to the hectic main road outside bustling with people. Within its walls, it feels almost like another world, and you can comfortably relax in this atmosphere.

The morning set comes with toast, butter, cheese, 3 types of egg, and salad, with your choice of either coffee or black tea. While it is a very simple breakfast, the toast is crispy on the outside with a soft, fluffy inside, and of course the coffee is excellent. Besides that, there is also a set that includes croissants and fruit yogurt, which is definitely worth a try.

Graphy Nezu Cafe & Lounge is a cafe that's connected to a hotel. This cafe isn't limited to just hotel guests, and everyone is welcome to dine here. It's still quite new, and it's located in a quiet residential area. There's indoor seating as well as outdoor terrace seating, and customers are able to have a pleasant time enjoying their breakfast. The hotel is very popular with travelers from abroad, and there's a beautiful lounge that's great to sit in and chat.

There is a morning set that consists of a sandwich, salad, French fries, soup, and a drink. Guests can customize their sandwiches by choosing the type of bread and the sandwich fillings.
