Biei no Oka, Hokkaido
This spot became famous because of the drama "Kita no Kuni."
This scenery has a reputation of being so beautiful that you'll be so fascinated by it that you'll completely forget all about time.
In the summer, one side of the cliff is covered in blooming lavender.
Mt. Fuji, Shizuoka Prefecture
Mt. Fuji has become such an internationally famous sight-seeing spot that no explanation is needed.
More than just climbing this mountain, it's also good to gaze at it from afar.
If you climb Mt. Fuji in the winter it will be completely plunged into snow, so it's a scary mountain where the danger of death is real.
In the summer there's also things like altitude sickness, so it's a mountain that's considerably tough enough that you'll lose the will to climb it.
And from the 8th station up, not even a blade of grass grows and it's nothing but a mountain made of pebbles, so I simply enjoy the scenery without going up.
Shirakawa-go, Gifu Prefecture
This is another famous spot of hidden Japan: a must-see ancient village that will especially make you clasp your hands in prayer.
It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995.
Also, every year in February on the weekends, they light up every house in the village at night.
You can enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Shiraito no Taki, Shizuoka Prefecture
These famous waterfalls are a whimsical sight created by the flowing water from the thawing snow coming from Mt. Fuji.
It's designated as a national monument, and among Japanese waterfalls, this one is always ranked superior. It's a super famous sightseeing spot.
Since it's extremely pretty, I highly recommend it to foreigners.
Joumon Sugi, Yakushima
Yakushima is said to be Japan's unexplored region, and it stands deserted.
It's said this tree is over 4000 years old, and it's an extremely large Japanese cedar.
Now Yakushima is a great sightseeing spot to the point that its name is known overseas.
Many people from around the world come to visit.
Shibu Onsen Kanaguya, Nagano Prefecture
The motif of this onsen was used in the movie "Spirited Away" (Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi), directed by Miyazaki Hayao.
It's a well-established hot springs inn with a history of over 200 years, and a many-story building constructed with composure and dignity.
It's been designated as one of Japan's tangible cultural properties.
Nikkou Suginamiki Kaidou
It's a sight-seeing spot listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest tree-lined street in the world, spanning 37 kilometers.
The terrain makes it easy for fog to occur, and the place itself is in a deep mountain valley, so you can relish an exotic atmosphere.
Kiyomizudera, Kyoto
In Japan, when people are desperate, they often say that they're going to jump off of Kiyomizu's balcony.
The reason for that saying is because Kiyomizudera was built 13 meters high, over a sheer precipice.
In short, they're expressing that they're resolved to do anything to die.
The scenery seen from Kiyomizudera is beautiful so now it's become a world-famous tourist spot.
