About BicCamera

Beloved by locals and tourists alike, BicCamera is one of Japan's most famous home appliance chains. Founded in 1968 in Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture, BicCamera began expanding to Tokyo in 1978 and now has branches all over the country, with its head office located in Ikebukuro. BicCamera has grown so big that even the train departure music at JR Ikebukuro Station was set to BicCamera's theme song in March 2024. If you’re getting off or passing through Ikebukuro Station, keep an ear out for the catchy "Bic Bic Bic Bic Camera" tune!

"Bic" is Balinese for "big." The name is meant to conjure up images of not just the company’s large size but also its potential. Below, we’ll introduce you to BicCamera AKIBA, the hottest home appliance store in Tokyo’s technology hub of Akihabara!
