Sunshine Aquarium to Hold the Special Exhibition, Bakemono-ten!

Ikebukuro's Sunshine Aquarium is well-known for its unique location, perched on the rooftop of a 40m-high building. From June 28, 2018 (Thursday) to November 25, 2018 (Sunday), the aquarium will play host to a special exhibition titled "Bakemono-ten", which features living creatures that can transform themselves into various forms and colors through mimicry and growth.

Besides featuring an all-star line-up of around 30 types of living, transformable creatures from all over the world, the annex cafe and museum shop offer food menus and limited edition merchandise based on the same theme. What's more, you can also experience how it feels to transform yourself at the Northern White-faced Owl photo corner!

At the exhibition hall, you can search for living creatures in a water tank that can transform themselves through mimicry. Among these, some are said to be so difficult to spot that even adults will have fun searching for them! Satisfy your intellectual curiosity as you find out more about how these creatures try to live in the tough natural world, where it's eat or be eaten, with their survival techniques hidden under unique or beautiful appearances!

Key Creatures Featured at the Exhibition

The Harlequin snake eel is not a sea snake, but actually of the eel family.
