Blood Types in Japan
In Japan, people are so obsessed with blood types that there are entrepreneurs that sell all sort of things based on blood types. There are blood type towels, blood type drinks, blood type diets, and believe it or not, they even have blood type condoms!
Blood types in Japan are seen as a stereotype--that is, if you're blood type A, you act a certain way, and if you're blood type B, then you act a different way. This might not be true all across the board, of course. People who are B types might not identify with how they are "supposed" to act, and this goes for the other types as well. But for those who aren't used to equating your personality with your blood type, figuring it out for yourself is nothing short of an interesting experience.

How blood types became linked to personalities
It all started in 1931 in Japan. Furukawa Takeji (1891-1940) proposed that there was a link between blood type and personality after working in the administration department of a high school and observing the temperamental differences between applicants. Furukawa proposed that we humans are simple beings, only requiring two personality types.
His report stated that people of blood type A were generally mild tempered and intellectual, while people of blood type B were the opposite, essentially dividing the population into the good and the bad.
