1. Tokyo Disney Resort
The Tokyo Disney Resort features two contiguous theme parks designed based on two different themes: "Tokyo Disneyland" and "Tokyo DisneySea". Even when looking at the whole world, two different theme parks adjacent to one another, is something quite rare.
The most popular attractions in Tokyo Disneyland are the "Big Thunder Mountain" and the "Splash Mountain." The "Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade," which is held every night, is also a must-see.
Tokyo DisneySea is based around the seven ports, and visitors can enjoy its different characteristics. The most popular attractions are the "Tower of Terror," a haunted hotel where paranormal phenomena occur, and the "Indiana Jones (R) Adventure: Temple of the Crystal Skull," a ride-on attraction on an off-road vehicle. In addition, alcoholic drinks are available for purchase in Tokyo DisneySea, which makes it more of a theme park for adults.
Visiting both parks in one day is rather difficult, so we recommend staying overnight in a hotel if you want to enjoy them both.

2. Universal Studios Japan
In 2014, "Universal Studios Japan (USJ)" recorded the largest number of visitors since its opening. Among its attractions, the "Wizarding World of Harry Potter," which opened in the summer of 2014, is especially popular. The "Harry Potter And The Forbidden Journey (TM)", which became the first and only 3D ride in the world within a year from its opening, allows visitors to enjoy the world of Harry Potter to the fullest, flying around the world of magic.
"Universal Cool Japan 2016," which gathers together five world-class major brands of Japan as an attraction, is scheduled to be held from January 15th 2016 (Fri). Likewise, this theme park will always provide visitors with a kind of excitement they cannot experience anywhere else.
3. FUJI-Q HIGHLAND
"FUJI-Q HIGHLAND" is a must-visit for all those who love rollercoasters. Do not miss the "Takabisha," a rollercoaster with a steep drop of 121 degrees at its maximum, the "Eejanaika," the rollercoaster with the highest total number of spins in the world, and the "DODONPA," which reaches a speed of 172 km/h in 1.8 seconds from the start. Here you can also enjoy many of the scariest attractions in Japan: the "Super Scary Labyrinth of Fear," a walk-through haunted house takes 50 minutes to find your way out. The park is located at the base of Mt. Fuji, so the view from the attractions is amazing too! It is easily accessible by highway express bus from Shinjuku, a 1hour 40 minute ride, which makes it possible to host day trips to FUJI-Q HIGHLAND from Tokyo.
4. Huis Ten Bosch
Huis Ten Bosch, located in Sasebo, Nagasaki, is the largest theme park in Japan that recreates an European townscape. Thanks to its variety of illuminations, it has ranked number one in the national illumination rankings for 3 consecutive years. It became the largest illumination in the world in 2015, with 13 million bulbs. Seasonal flowers bloom all throughout the year across the vast premises of the park, creating sceneries unable to see anywhere else. Other things worth noting are the "ONE PIECE" attraction based on the internationally popular anime, other attractions using the latest technology and the Huis Ten Bosch Opera Company.
Or how about staying at the "Strange Hotel," the first robot hotel in the world, and spending a few days in the park to enjoy it to the fullest?
5. Sanrio Puroland
"Sanrio Puroland" is the place for you, if you are looking for a place to enjoy the "kawaii" world of the internationally popular Sanrio characters like Hello Kitty and My Melody. The park is celebrating its 25th anniversary this December 2015, and is offering special events and merchandise, and food menus that may be just too cute to eat. Sanrio Puroland is conveniently located, just about half an hour train ride from Shinjuku, which makes it easily accessible for families with small children too.
New attractions are being created every year in Japanese theme parks, and they also offer a wide array of events so that there\'s a new excitement every time you visit. How about visiting one of these family-friendly Japanese theme parks when you come to Japan?
