1. Akiyoshidai/Akiyoshido

Akiyoshidai is Japan\'s largest karst plateau that has been designated as a national special natural monument. There are cone-shaped natural depressions everywhere and limestone pillars scattered all over this plateau that create a mysterious landscape. Many caves can be found under the plateau. Of these caves, Akiyoshido, which is also registered as a national special natural monument, boasts the largest size among caves in the East. It measures approximately 10km in length, 200m in maximum width and 80m in maximum height. On the sightseeing route covering about 1km inside the cave, you can enjoy mysterious views of the countless stone pillars and stalagmites that were formed over approximately 300 million years ago.

2. Omijima Island

Omijima is an island on the side of Sea of Japan at Nagato City, measuring about 32 km in circuit and occupying an area of 14.6 sq km. It is popular for its unique attractions that can only be found on this island, including cliffs that were formed by rough waves, as well as stone pillars, tunnels and reefs. Sightseeing while aboard a sightseeing pleasure boat (fares from 1,200 JPY for adults) is especially recommended as you can go around the unusual stones, cliffs and other attractions. 3. Motonosumi Inari Shrine

You will get to see the seawater flowing into the rocks under the cliff and then get splashed up to 30 meters high.

A bridge connecting Tsunoshima, which is located off the coast of Shimonoseki, with Honshu island. Measuring 1,780m in length, it is the longest bridge in Japan that links a remote island to the mainland free of charge. With its famous view that crosses the emerald green sea, this bridge has been ranked as the top bridge in TripAdvisor’s list of bridges in Japan based on reviews in 2015. This bridge is also often chosen as location for TV commercials and drama shows. But what is particularly recommended here is the view from Amagase Park that is located on Tsunoshima. You can capture a panoramic view of the bridge against the gradated sea.

5. Kintaikyo Bridge

Located in Iwakuni City, Kintaikyo bridge is a national site of scenic beauty that is listed as one the three greatest bridges in Japan. It is comprised of five wooden bridges, and the three at the center make up an arch bridge. If you come here, you have to see the back of the bridge. Countless timbers are assembled in a row using traditional techniques, creating a beautiful geometric pattern. The night-time illumination for a limited time is also recommended. You will surely be fascinated by the magical sight of the golden lights.
