The Limited-time Event "Disney\'s Halloween" is Under Way!
Tokyo Disney Resort is celebrating its 35th anniversary with a special fall event called "Disney\'s Halloween" in the two Disney theme parks that make up its main area.
These two theme parks are: Tokyo Disneyland, in which you can delve into the world of fantasy, dreams, and magic that Disney movies are full of, and Tokyo Disney SEA - a theme park abound with adventure, romance, and imagination that is based on tales and legends surrounding the ocean. Both theme parks have unique Halloween offerings for you to enjoy.

What is the Halloween Theme at Tokyo Disneyland?
The theme for this year’s Halloween will be a “ghost version of Tokyo Disneyland”. The theme park’s strange yet somewhat charming transformation will delight you, with ghosts merrily performing their roles, buildings possessed by ghosts, and quirky decorations everywhere. The highlight is a night performance down at Celebration Street (World Bazaar’s Main Street), where you can get into a joyful mood befitting the theme park’s 35th anniversary.
What is the Halloween Theme at Tokyo Disney SEA?
2018’s Halloween at Tokyo Disney SEA will be cool but eerie, involving visitors entering the world of the Disney Villains (evil characters that appeared in Disney’s films). The whole theme park will take on an almost sinister atmosphere that boosts the villains’ powers, including the entrance that will have purple thorny vines wrapped around it. At the American Waterfront, you’ll find a photo spot themed around the villains.
Enjoy Shows and Parades
Apart from rides, there are several shows and parades that you should make sure to see while at either of the theme parks. One particular show that you shouldn’t miss is the limited-time Disney\'s Halloween!
At Tokyo Disneyland, you’ll be able to see the Spooky “Boo!” Parade, wherein ghosts will parade around, inviting fellow Disney characters and guests to become their friend. These fellow Disney characters will eventually make a huge transformation, changing into their ghostly forms and joining in the strange, grand story!
At Tokyo Disney SEA, you will get to see an eerie yet extravagant Halloween party called “The Villains World”. Disney characters who have been invited to the party will come dressed up in costumes reflecting the villains! You’ll get to watch a performance full of beauty, humor, grace, and magic, performed by villains like Maleficent in The Sleeping Beauty and Ursula in The Little Mermaid and their minions.
Halloween-Only Food Offerings
Within the park, there are several restaurants, cafes, and food carts serving proper meals and light fare. A limited-time food menu will be available for Disney\'s Halloween, so why not give it a taste?
Tokyo Disneyland’s standard menu will be rearranged to fit the Halloween theme. One example is the Bao (990 JPY (incl. tax) with French fries and a drink) at Huey, Dewey and Louie’s Good Time Cafe, which has been turned into a pumpkin-shaped bao bun with a scallop cream croquette inside. You can also get limited-time Churros (350 JPY (incl. tax)) at food carts or Pecos Bill Cafe. Enjoy the stunning contrast between its pink appearance and pumpkin flavor!
Even the food at Tokyo Disney SEA has been taken over by the villains! One eatery worth checking out is Cafe Portofino, an eatery that serves Mediterranean cuisine and has the atmosphere of a fishing village. It offers white and black pasta reminiscent of Cruella de Vil in the 101 Dalmatians, an appetizer plate that will remind you of the poison apple in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and a chocolate mousse cake set inspired by Maleficent (1,880 JPY (incl. tax)). You can also find a bizarre curry that changes colors when you mix it around at the Casbah Food Court! It was inspired by Jafar in Aladdin, and comes in a set with black naan (1,580 JPY (incl. tax)).
You Can Even Wear Costumes!
This event is the only time during the year in which you can enter the theme park dressed in full costume as a Disney character, so why not enjoy your Halloween to the fullest by becoming your favorite character for the day? If you plan to visit Tokyo Disney Resort in a costume, please confirm the rules below.
The following are prohibited:
・Costumes of non-Disney characters
・Masks that cover the face
・Face paint, artificial scars, and fake facial hair
・Costumes with sharp objects or features
・Dangerous items (knives, model guns, fireworks, long poles or sticks, etc.)
・Costumes that make it difficult to walk
・Revealing costumes
・Toy guns, swords, bows, etc.

How to Avoid the Crowds
The busiest times are holidays, such as the weekend, national holidays, and festival days. To avoid the crowd, visit either theme park on weekdays that aren’t connected to holidays - namely, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. If you plan to come during a busy day, it is best to purchase a Disney eTicket, which will let you enter the park without needing to line up. You can do so through Tokyo Disney Resort’s Online Reservation & Tickets website. If you buy the eTicket using the official smartphone app (Japanese only), you just have to hover your smartphone over the ticket scanner by the park entrance to gain entry.
Don’t forget about the FASTPASS Ticket, which can only be used for the period of time specified on the ticket. It gives one priority entry to certain attractions, reducing the waiting time. You will find ticket machines by the entrances of attractions that the ticket can be used for.
You can find limited time goods based on ghosts and Disney villains being sold at both theme parks. Even the stops on the Disney Resort Line, a monorail that goes around all of Tokyo Disney Resort, will be decorated for Halloween. If that sounds right up your alley, do stop by and have a look!
