Kawaume

Ise/Toba/Shima, Mie

Kawaume Donburi (rice bowl dish), a delicious and traditional specialty of the real Japan.

This is our famous Kawaume Donburi (rice bowl). This particular dish serves up grilled kabayaki unagi (eel) on top of rice. A refreshing secret sauce is the marinade for the kabayaki, but by all means add wasabi soy sauce and shredded green onions to your taste. The perilla leaf hiding under the unagi also provides a nice accent. We stock unagi from a long-standing local wholesaler who carefully selects the best fresh unagi from Kagoshima, Kumamoto, Miyazaki, and other prefectures in Kyushu. We only use unagi in which the fattiness adds to the taste, and that are large enough to require 3 to 4 kushi (skewers). Being a small shop, we do our best to answer to even the smallest requests of customers. We have included oyster dishes on our eel course menus, providing a nice touch of variety. The first floor of the building, which was once an inn, has been remodelled to include both table seating and tatami floor seating. In addition, there is also a spacious tatami room on the second floor for larger groups.

Casually enjoy great sushi at Tsukiji Market! They offer a wide selection of standard nigiri and kaisen-don (seafood bowls) at transparent, affordable prices.

This restaurant that meets people's desire to casually enjoy authentic Edo-style sushi opened in the outer market of Tsukiji in the spring of 2018. It consists of just 9 counter seats, resulting in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, even for first-timers. The beautiful wooden display case of sushi toppings connected to the counter is full of seasonal seafood procured at Tsukiji Market that morning. In order to adhere to the restaurant's casual nature and keep the prices transparent, the menu consists primarily of standard nigiri with amazing toppings and kaisen-don stacked high with seafood. You can choose your sushi, but you can also leave it up to the chef to decide. Depending on the stocking situation, you may even be able to try and compare different types of sea urchin!
