1. Osaki Hachimangu Shrine

First up is a famous shrine dedicated to a deity that wards off evil, promotes certain victory, and ensures safe childbirth. It was established in 1607. The magnificent main building is designated as a national treasure. It is believed that it hosts a concentration of energy created by all things and “ki” (spirit), attracting many worshipers hoping to benefit from it. It is said that this “ki” is especially concentrated at the front of the shrine, and that you’ll gain more good fortune if you pray for longer. The Matsutaki Matsuri (Festival) that is held annually on January 14 is also famous. People gather to pray for the health, peace, and prosperity of the household.





2. Zuihoden

Date Masamune (1567 - 1636) established the foundation for Sendai\'s prosperity as the first feudal lord of the Sendai domain. Zuihoden is the mausoleum for Masamune, one of Japan\'s most popular feudal warriors who is known as the "one-eyed dragon". It is a tourist attraction known for its dazzling building painted in vivid colors, but did you know that it is also famous as a power spot? It is said that one can absorb "ki" on the stairs of the path heading to the shrine and the mausoleum. This “ki” apparently grants several benefits, such as better work prospects.

3. Toshogu Shrine

This is a shrine that is said to grant a variety of benefits, including commercial success, safety of the household, and longevity. The deity that is worshipped here is Tokugawa Ieyasu (1543 - 1616), one of the three outstanding heroes of the feudal period who became the first shogun of the Tokugawa Bakufu. The shrine was established in 1654 as a relaxation place for Ieyasu. It is a historic shrine that is home to many Important Cultural Properties of Japan, including the main shrine building. It is a power spot that gives worshipers a sense of solemnity with its stately buildings nestled among thick foliage. It is also known for hosting the antiques market that is held on the fourth Sunday of every month, which draws in many visitors.

4. Miyagiken Gokoku Shrine

Built in 1904, this shrine is located where Sendai Castle - the residence for generations of Sendai feudal lords - once stood. It is a soothing location with a bright vermilion shrine building that contrasts beautifully with the natural landscape that changes with the season. It is dedicated to the war dead from Miyagi Prefecture, and is known to confer a variety of benefits, such as household safety, successful business, and traffic safety. You can also obtain unique charms, such as the Kachimamori (1,000 JPY), to achieve success in exams and sports.

5. Akiu Otaki Waterfall

Akiu Onsen Village is a quiet area surrounded by mountains that has many power spots. Akiu Otaki Waterfall, which is designated as a Place of Scenic Beauty in Japan, is one particular spot that you should visit. Known as one of Japan\'s three great waterfalls, it has a width of 6m and height of 55m. You can get up close to the waterfall using a paved path, and refresh yourself with the cool air, breeze, and water spray. Nearby is Akiu Otaki Fudoson (Takimotosan Saiko-ji), a temple that enshrines a statue known for fulfilling wishes. It is said that if you can find the koi (carp) motif that is engraved somewhere in the temple hall, you will be blessed with a good love match.
